Position Summary

The Therapist provides comprehensive clinical services to individuals, families, and groups within a behavioral health setting. This role includes conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, delivering evidence-based therapy, and coordinating care with multidisciplinary team members to support each client’s recovery and overall well-being.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial clinical assessments, psychosocial evaluations, and mental status examinations.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and interdisciplinary staff.
  • Provide individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in accordance with agency policy, DCF, Joint Commission, and HIPAA standards.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, case reviews, and clinical supervision.
  • Coordinate care with medical, psychiatric, and case management staff to ensure continuity of services.
  • Facilitate crisis intervention and risk assessment as needed.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
  • Support discharge planning and aftercare coordination.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to maintain licensure and stay informed on best practices.
Qualifications

Education:
  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field.
Licensure/Certification :
  • Active state license or license-eligible status (e.g., LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent).
Experience:
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience providing therapy in a behavioral health, substance use, or related clinical setting preferred.
  • Experience with trauma-informed care, co-occurring disorders, and evidence-based practices strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong understanding of behavioral health principles and therapeutic interventions.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to ethical practice, client confidentiality, and cultural competence.
Working Conditions
  • Primarily office-based in a behavioral health facility.
  • May require participation in on-call or after-hours crisis response.
  • Exposure to individuals experiencing emotional distress or behavioral crises.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, and engage in therapeutic sessions for extended periods.
