Position Overview
This position will be responsible for performing non‑research molecular testing of samples for the potential presence of biological threat agents. The successful candidate will ensure that incoming operational, QA, and other sample types are processed while maintaining chain of custody, prepare reports, answer questions, troubleshoot, and make recommendations to the supervisor for inclusion in comprehensive reports. The role requires maintaining and operating equipment properly and safely, performing routine calibrations and adjustments, and following proper handling and storage procedures for various materials.
Laboratory operations run seven days a week; team members rotate shifts to cover weekends and holidays. In the event of a public health emergency, extended work hours and alternative shift work may be required to maintain 24/7 operations. A pre‑employment drug screening is a requirement.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in microbiology, molecular biology, or related biological sciences.
- At least one year of laboratory bench experience, utilizing PCR, aseptic techniques and experience with biological assays. Laboratory training assigned or accompanying a course is not considered applicable training.
