Lab – Phlebotomist

Responsibilities

  • Draw blood specimens from patients of all ages following established practices and procedures
  • Prepare collected specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring proper handling and documentation
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment in adherence to safety standards
  • Provide clear explanations of procedures to patients, fostering an atmosphere of trust and confidence
  • Accurately maintain records and documentation related to specimen collection and processing
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors, process focus, and sensitivity to patient confidentiality
  • Perform specimen collection and processing duties confidently for both clinical and forensic purposes

Required Skills

  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong customer service skills for interacting with patients and team members
  • Keyboard and data entry experience

Additional Skills & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington
  • Minimum of 6 months of phlebotomy experience required; 1+ years preferred
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training is a plus
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime based on staffing needs
