The OPS Senior Health Educator (SHE) will serve as the Minority Health Liaison for the agency and perform related duties within the Office of Community Health and Planning (OCH&P). This position will report directly to the Government Operations Consultant III and coordinate activities with staff within the Office of Community Health and Planning, Management Team and Administrative staff. The incumbent will work with community stakeholders and partners to encourage the adoption of healthy behaviors.
The Senior Health Educator will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data to identify individual and/or community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs and/or services designed to encourage healthy lifestyles, policies, and environments.
Responsibilities include initiating, coordinating, and providing education throughout the county that will result in policy, systems, and environmental changes. The incumbent will also be responsible for assisting with the Advisory Committee in preparing and facilitating meetings and ensuring that all initiatives are aligned.
Responsibilities- Assists the Office of Community Health and Planning in maintaining the Advisory Committee and program initiatives within the Florida Department of Health in Miami Dade County.
- Serves as the Minority Health Liaison for the agency. Attends required Office of Minority Health meetings, completes required reporting and projects as well as maintains/updates the county plan.
- The incumbent will serve as a liaison for the Advisory Committee. Incumbent will be responsible for organizing, planning, and scheduling (Committee and Subcommittees) meetings and presentations. Incumbent will ensure meeting minutes are complete and the committee has materials to operate to meet the strategic goals and objectives of the committee work plan.
- Conducts activities related to promoting optimal health and addressing social and economic barriers to health. Prepares reports recording the results of systems work performed, including technical writings such as operations manuals, procedures guides, or operator instructions required for systems operations, as well as project reporting on monthly/quarterly basis to monitor strategic objectives and health outcomes.
- Supports evaluation projects activities related to the development, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of assessment and contract results for evaluation purposes.
- Develops and distributes standardized departmental messaging and resources prompting health and chronic disease control through prevention, education, regulation and service including but not limited to newsletters, press releases, social media messaging, and fliers.
- Assists with the planning, organizing and coordination of work assignments, including establishing and maintaining community contacts, scheduling, and/or packing of presentation materials, promotional items and educational materials.
- Represents the department at health fairs during work hours and at times during non-traditional work hours and/or weekends.
- Supports the creation and implementation of systems to provide the OCHP projects with data/information relative to the strategic goals, objectives and strategies.
- Evaluates and measures the effectiveness of systems against desired program objectives. Plans, advice implements, interprets, and monitor specific phases of information related to OCHP Projects.
- Provides management consultant services and assistance to improve management capabilities in contractual services and contract administration.
- Works some non-traditional hours and weekends as needed for the program.
- Assists with the preparation of monthly/quarterly reports to monitor strategic objectives and health outcomes for the OCH&P.
