Overview
The Double Tree by Hilton Miami Airport Convention Center is seeking an experienced Banquet Set-up/ House Person to join our team. This position is 100% on-site, no remote work.
The hotel is located just south of Miami International Airport off the Dolphin Expressway, adjacent to the Blue Lagoon Business District. It features 334 guestrooms, onsite dining, fitness room, outdoor pool, business center, complimentary High-Speed Internet Access, 24,000 square feet of retail space, 20,000 square feet of hotel meeting and function space, and a Convention Center with 152,000 square feet of meeting, event and exhibit space.
This position will be a non-exempt hourly role and will report to the Banquet Set-up Manager.
Rate of Pay: $14.00 + Tip
Responsibilities- Communicate with Manager throughout shift to be aware of the work.
- Set up all meeting rooms to the specifications of the guest. This includes physical activity in transporting staging, tables, chairs, dance floors, and other materials from storage to meeting rooms.
- Supply and replenish meeting rooms with clean glasses and fresh water.
- Break down all meeting rooms when meetings have concluded and return equipment to storage to prepare for the next function.
- Maintain established cleaning schedules of meeting rooms and ballrooms to keep the spaces presentable at all times.
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards that may be established by the Double Tree from time to time is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action up to termination.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs.
Upon employment, all employees are required to comply with Double Tree rules and regulations for the safe and efficient operation of hotel facilities. Violations may result in disciplinary action up to termination.
In addition to essential functions, this position may require a combination of supportive functions, with the percentage of time determined by the supervisor based on hotel needs.
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation, using any reasonable combination of skills and abilities:
- Knowledge of various types of equipment and setup styles used in meeting rooms (e.g., different table types such as rounds and schoolroom).
- Ability to understand verbal English to comprehend requests from supervisor and guests.
- Ability to lift and move multiple tables, chairs, podiums, and other banquet equipment weighing up to 80 lbs. through a crowded room; this position requires significant physical activity on a continuous basis.
- Ability to grasp, lift and carry or move goods on a hand cart/truck weighing up to 500 lbs.
Education, training and experience equivalent to high school graduation that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Prior hospitality experience is preferred.
