The Benefits Manager is responsible for directing and managing the daily operations of group benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, disability, life, retirement, leave management, and wellness plans. This role ensures accurate payroll deductions, compliance with federal and state regulations (ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, etc.), and effective vendor oversight. The manager also evaluates and enhances benefits programs to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and compliance.

Duties/Responsibilities

Plans, implements, and administers retirement and health and welfare benefit programs. Manages day-to-day benefits administration, including payroll inputs and deductions. Leads annual Open Enrollment and renewal processes in coordination with brokers and vendors. Oversees leave administration and benefits communications. Monitors program effectiveness, maintains compliance and reporting requirements, manages vendor relationships, supports budgeting efforts, and provides employee support regarding benefits programs.

Required Skills/Abilities

Strong analytical, project management, and leadership skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems. Knowledge of benefits plan design, contract language, RFP evaluation, and applicable federal and state regulations. Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking abilities.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field, with 3–5 years of benefits administration experience (preferably at an AMLAW 200 law firm). SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, and/or CEBS designations preferred.

Physical Demands

Primarily sedentary role requiring typing, filing, and lifting up to 10 pounds. Must be able to communicate effectively and perform standard office-related physical tasks.
