Human Resources Business Partner - South Florida Region
Nextran Truck Centers is seeking an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to support our South Florida operations, with a primary work location in Miami, Florida and responsibility for supporting our Miami, West Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale locations. This position is expected to operate on-site.
This is a hands-on HR leadership role for someone who enjoys being close to the business, building strong relationships with operational leaders, and supporting employees in a fast-paced, skilled-trade environment. The HR Business Partner will serve as the primary HR resource for the South Florida region, partnering with management and employees to support talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, performance management, benefits, compensation, communication, and workforce planning.
The ideal candidate is a practical, business-minded HR professional who can work independently, build credibility with leaders and employees, and balance compliance with real-world operational needs.
Key Responsibilities- Partner with regional leadership and management teams across Miami, West Palm Beach, and Fort Lauderdale to understand business needs, employee issues, staffing challenges, and operational priorities.
- Serve as the primary liaison between Corporate HR and the South Florida region, ensuring HR programs, communications, and initiatives are implemented effectively.
- Operate with the independence and judgment needed to function as a regional HR resource and "department of one" when supporting local operations.
- Lead and support recruiting efforts for regional roles, with a focus on attracting and hiring high-quality talent in a skilled labor and dealership environment.
- Partner with managers through the hiring and onboarding process to ensure a strong new-hire experience.
- Support HRIS through UKG, including updating employee information and ensuring timely, accurate HR transactions.
- Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls for the Region through UKG
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment questions and direct them to appropriate resources when needed.
- Partner with managers to address employee relations matters, including coaching, counseling, documentation, investigations, and conflict resolution.
- Conduct thorough and objective workplace investigations when appropriate.
- Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to managers, including support with disciplinary action, employee development, goal setting, performance reviews, and coaching conversations.
- Maintain working knowledge of employment laws and regulatory requirements that impact day-to-day employee management, including applicable federal and state employment laws and DOT-related compliance.
- Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation to managers and employees.
- Work closely with leadership to improve employee relations, morale, productivity, retention, and the overall employee experience.
- Analyze HR trends and metrics in partnership with the broader HR team to identify issues and recommend practical solutions.
- Provide input and support related to workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational development.
- Participate in the evaluation and follow-up of training programs to ensure objectives are met.
- Perform other HR-related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will be a strong HR generalist with the ability to move comfortably between strategic partnership and hands-on execution. This role requires someone who can earn trust quickly, communicate clearly, and support both managers and employees in an operational environment.
Preferred Qualifications- Minimum of 8 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Experience working in a decentralized, privately held organization strongly preferred.
- Background in logistics, supply chain, transportation, dealership operations, skilled trades, or a similar operational environment preferred.
- Strong business acumen, including the ability to understand business operations and read a P&L statement.
- Working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, including:
- Employee relations
- Recruiting and onboarding
- Compensation practices
- Performance management
- Organizational development
- Benefits administration
- Employment law compliance
- Prior experience with UKG, Clear Company, or similar HRIS/ATS platforms preferred.
- Demonstrated success recruiting and hiring strong talent, particularly skilled labor or operational employees.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to influence and work cross-functionally with leaders, managers, employees, and Corporate HR.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.
