Director of Human Resources – Field Operations

The OpportunityWe are looking for a hands-on, field-based Director of People and Culture to lead the people function for a growing, multi-location service organization across South Florida.
This is not a corporate, behind-the-desk HR role. Our ideal leader is comfortable spending time in our branches, talking directly with frontline employees in English and Spanish, coaching operational managers through real-time employee issues, recruiting hard-to-find field talent, and personally jumping in to solve problems.
You will partner directly with our CEO and operational leaders while staying close to the day-to-day work. We operate with a lean team, so we are looking for someone who is equally comfortable leading the function and doing the work.
What You Will Own Be the HR Partner to the Field- Build strong relationships with branch and operational leaders across South Florida.
- Maintain a visible presence in our locations and with frontline employees.
- Coach managers through employee relations, performance, attendance, conflict, corrective action, and terminations.
- Simplify HR for operational leaders by creating practical tools, processes, and training they can actually use.
- Handle workplace investigations and employee concerns with sound judgment, consistency, and urgency.
- Personally lead talent acquisition and full-cycle recruiting for hourly field technicians, skilled trades, management, and corporate positions.
- Develop recruiting pipelines beyond traditional job boards through referrals, community partnerships, trade and vocational programs, grassroots recruiting, and local sourcing.
- Partner with operations to improve hiring speed and quality.
- Strengthen onboarding and the first 90-day employee experience.
- Use turnover, recruiting, and workforce data to identify where we are losing employees and implement practical retention strategies.
- Coach branch managers and supervisors to become stronger people leaders.
- Create practical manager training around interviewing, performance management, communication, accountability, documentation, and employee relations.
- Help managers become increasingly confident and self-sufficient while knowing when to involve People and Culture.
- Own day-to-day People and Culture operations in a lean environment.
- Oversee HR compliance, policies, employee records, leave administration, workers' compensation, and other core HR processes.
- Partner with payroll, benefits, finance, and operations to resolve employee issues quickly and accurately.
- Leverage HRIS, technology, automation, and AI where appropriate to simplify work and improve the employee and manager experience.
- Establish and track meaningful workforce KPIs, including turnover, retention, time-to-fill, hiring effectiveness, employee relations trends, and other operational people metrics.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes as the organization continues to grow.
- Fluent bilingual English and Spanish skills are required. You must be comfortable conducting employee relations discussions, coaching conversations, investigations, and everyday employee communication in Spanish.
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including experience leading or owning an HR function.
- Recent experience supporting a field-based, hourly workforce in industries such as home services, construction, landscaping, facilities services, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pest control, restoration, property services, manufacturing, distribution, logistics, or similar operational environments.
- Strong employee relations and workplace investigation experience.
- Demonstrated success recruiting and retaining hourly and frontline employees.
- Experience coaching operational managers who may not have formal leadership or HR training.
- Strong understanding of employment law and HR compliance.
- Comfortable using HR technology and workforce data to improve decision-making.
- Able to operate independently, prioritize quickly, and move between strategic and tactical work throughout the day.
- Comfortable traveling regularly between South Florida locations.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
