Overview

Job Title: Windows System Administrator 1
Clearance Required: US Citizen;

Work Location: Miami, FL (onsite 100%)

Alpha Omega is seeking a qualified Windows System Administrator. This position is located within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Southeast Fisheries Science Center (SEFSC), Operations, Management, and Information Division (OMI). This role provides tier 1 support for science and administrative functions at SEFSC s Miami, FL facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot network hardware such as workstations, servers, printers/scanners, and switches.
  • Develop disaster recovery procedures and contingency plans for sensitive documents.
  • Monitor and maintain network infrastructure and data backup solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance on a weekly basis to customers and team members regarding vulnerability mitigation methods, status, patch deployment strategies, firmware, and application updates.
  • Ensure application compatibility and troubleshoot compatibility issues.
  • Create and implement change requests for incidents/problems as needed (JIRA).
  • Perform regular patch management tasks utilizing tools such as IBM Big Fix, Nessus, WSUS, and EPO to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Create Fixlets and Tasks with IBM Big Fix for testing/updating servers/PCs and software applications/firmware to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Develop system-hardening strategies and perform hardening procedures on network devices, servers, operating systems, applications, databases, and network accounts.
  • Remove unused and unnecessary network accounts and privileges.
  • Apply OS patches and upgrades regularly and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
  • Configure and maintain Cisco Call Manager systems including desk phones and user voicemail inboxes.
  • Utilize security tools such as Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) and Active Directory to apply password administration.
  • Manage computer room facilities, accounts, and network permissions in AD (adding, removing, maintaining user accounts and groups).
  • Document end-user requests, business requirements, and IT issues.
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures for hardware and application software.
  • Implement server-based requirements and improve and standardize project management and documentation processes with stakeholders.
  • Utilize network security controls to run regular IT security reports, reviews, and system audits.
  • Create and implement scripts, group policies, and registry edits.
  • Perform annual inventory tracking for new and used equipment and software.
  • Provide technical assistance and support for queries related to computer systems, software, hardware, LAN/WAN.
  • Follow up with customers to ensure issues are resolved.
  • Manage software licensing.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate s degree in Networking, Systems Administration, or comparable experience.

Experience/

Skills:

  • 3 years  experience with System Administration.
  • Customer service and strong oral/written communication.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Troubleshooting and administering network technologies.
  • Time prioritization and task management.



Preferred Experience /

Skills:

  • Experience installing, configuring, managing, maintaining, and troubleshooting network equipment (Servers, PCs).
  • Administration of network operating systems (e.g., Windows 10, Server 2012 and newer).
  • Experience coordinating with diverse customers and team members on policy development and IT security effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of system documentation, configuration, and management.
Salary and Benefits

The likely salary range for this position is $43,000 - $50,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation and is influenced by experience, skills, certifications, education, and contract provisions.
