Role Overview — Director, Paid Social

The Director, Paid Social will define the future of paid media at The Modern Agency. This leader is responsible for setting the vision, building scalable frameworks, and ensuring our clients achieve predictable, profitable growth through best-in-class paid social programs.

You will oversee a high-performing team, guide cross-channel strategy, and help shape how paid social integrates with affiliate, creator, and full-funnel performance initiatives. This role requires both strategic horsepower and operational rigor — someone equally comfortable architecting growth plans and pressure-testing the details behind them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership:
    Own the paid social vision across platforms including Meta, Tik Tok, Linked In, Pinterest, and emerging channels. Align channel strategy to client revenue targets, contribution margins, and broader growth objectives.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
    Build, mentor, and retain a best-in-class paid media team. Create a culture centered on accountability, curiosity, and continuous improvement while establishing clear performance standards.
  • Campaign Architecture & Oversight:
    Set the gold standard for account structure, testing methodology, creative iteration, and optimization. Ensure campaigns are built for scale, not short-term spikes.
  • Performance Ownership:
    Drive forecasting, budget allocation, pacing, and efficiency across the client portfolio. Maintain a sharp focus on CAC, MER, incrementality, and contribution profit — not vanity metrics.
  • Cross-Functional Integration:
    Partner closely with creative, affiliate, lifecycle, and analytics teams to ensure paid social operates as part of a cohesive growth engine rather than a siloed channel.
  • Innovation & Market Leadership:
    Stay ahead of platform shifts, AI-driven tooling, and evolving consumer behavior. Introduce new frameworks, automation opportunities, and testing strategies that compound performance over time.
  • Client Partnership:
    Serve as a senior strategic advisor to key clients. Lead executive-level conversations, present performance insights, and guide long-term growth planning with confidence and clarity.
  • Operational Excellence:
    Establish processes that support speed without sacrificing accuracy. Implement rigorous QA, reporting standards, and workflow structures that enable the agency to scale.
  • 5+ years in paid social, with 2+ years in a senior leadership role, ideally within a high-growth agency environment
  • Experience working with high-growth DTC brands, with a strong understanding of ecommerce economics, conversion dynamics, merchandising strategy, and full-funnel customer acquisition
  • Proven experience managing large budgets and multi-platform programs that drive measurable revenue impact
  • Deep platform expertise across Meta and Tik Tok, with strong familiarity in emerging and performance-oriented channels
  • Strong command of forecasting, attribution, and modern ecommerce metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to translate creative strategy into performance outcomes
  • Exceptional communication skills with experience leading executive-level client relationships
  • Experience building and developing high-performing teams
  • Highly operational with a bias toward action and accountability
