Machine Learning Engineers on the Data team at Rocket Money advance our mission by building products that deepen customer relationships with our many financial products. Our work ranges from transaction enrichment to personalization engines to cross-functional tools that support our mortgage and personal loan products. We collaborate with product and engineering teams to develop features that help customers understand, track, and improve their personal finances.

We value team players who collaborate across teams, support strategy with ML-powered user experiences, deliver within engineering teams, and understand the effects of their products on end users. Machine Learning Engineers focus on designing, engineering, and scaling cutting-edge ML solutions, while also performing data prep and iterating on model development.

• Develop and maintain reusable ML pipelines and systems, ensuring models are well-integrated with other systems via testing and documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide input on technical direction. Use ML skills to enhance user experiences and meet business needs through strategy and implementation.
• Focus on model monitoring and optimization, building systems for performance tracking, drift detection, alerting, and resource optimization.
• Set up deployment infrastructure including APIs and automated monitoring and deployment processes.
• Design instrumentation and experimentation to measure the impact of ML-powered products; establish evaluation criteria for ML use cases, including fine-tuned LLMs.
• Build and manage data labeling and data ingestion frameworks, optimizing workflows to improve data pipelines and researchers' experiences.
• Understand members’ needs and financial goals; work with product and engineering to create software and features that help members build better financial lives.
• Maintain a high technical bar by mentoring junior team members, participating in code reviews, and ensuring production quality.

• Create, diagnose, and evaluate LLM agents to assist with cancellations for users.
• Analyze relationships between subscriptions, purchases, and transaction data to power personalized experiences and segmentation.
• Build anomaly detection systems to improve transaction categorization accuracy and monitoring.

• 5+ years of professional experience in data science or ML engineering.
• Proficient in SQL and Python; strong software engineering skills; ability to contribute across the full application stack.
• Proven experience working in engineering teams to build software.
• Team player with strong communication skills; comfortable seeking feedback and influencing technical direction.
• Enthusiastic about cutting-edge ML, experience with tools such as RAG and LLM evaluation techniques.
• Curious about context and business impact; ML engineer first, with ability to act as a data scientist/analyst when needed.
• Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills; comfortable documenting and aligning stakeholders.
• Ability to deliver incremental products, measure signals, and iterate to improve user experiences.
• Deep experience in areas such as generative AI applications, computer vision, deep learning architectures, anomaly detection, reinforcement learning, feature engineering at scale, MLOps and model deployment, distributed computing with big data, or system design and architecture.
• Fintech, banking, or finance experience is a plus.

Salary range of $180,000 - $230,000 per year + bonus + benefits. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
