Senior Data Scientist

Princess Cruises operates an advanced and extremely complex revenue management system (YODA) which was a finalist for the Edelman Awards in 2020. The YODA data scientists play a key role in ensuring the system remains the industry leader. This position is part of a global data science community, resides in a Princess team and applies deep technical knowledge of YODA to develop improvements to the machine‑learning and artificial‑intelligence systems/algorithms and support their deployment.

• RMS SUPPORT:
  Provide coaching and support to colleagues across global teams; lead escalated support for anomalous results using SQL and scientific modules; collaborate with analysts to balance science recommendations and business constraints.
• RMS IMPROVEMENTS & GLOBAL
  
  COLLABORATION:
  
  Gather requirements, prototype improvements to ML/AI elements, present prototypes to the wider data science community, and collaborate on projects across brands; regular travel up to ~25% of the time.
• DRIVE IMPROVEMENTS THROUGH DATA‑DRIVEN PROJECTS:
  Collaborate with senior staff, influence decisions using analytical studies, stay current with technologies, attend conferences, and build networks in the AI community.

• Proven record of teamwork, problem solving, and influencing decision making.
• Application of statistics, statistical modelling, and/or machine learning to real‑world problems.
• Experience with large AI/ML software projects using agile frameworks.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• High level of self‑organization, prioritisation, and initiative.
• Customer focus, business acumen, curiosity, and ethical AI practices.
• Extensive experience with databases (SQL) and/or visualisation/statistical software such as Power BI; experience with Cloud systems such as Snowflake/Snowpark highly valued.
• Experience creating and tuning ML models from EDA to production using Python (or similar).

• Working with remote or global distributed teams.
• Optimization techniques and generative AI (GenAI).
• Intermediate language skills in Italian or German.

• Master's or advanced degree in a quantitative discipline; bachelor's degree acceptable with strong technical experience.
• 5–7 years of data‑science experience (advanced degree can mitigate). Experience working with non‑scientifically trained staff, coding in at least one language (Python, R, SQL).

Travel: less than 25% non‑shipboard travel likely.
