Senior Data Scientist

We are looking to hire a Sr. Data Scientist. Princess Cruises operates an advanced and complex revenue management system (YODA) which provides millions of daily recommendations to assist revenue managers in pricing cruises. This system is used across seven brands within Carnival Corporation. The Sr. Data Scientist will ensure the system works effectively and continues to be a leading system in the cruise industry.

This role resides in a Princess team but is part of a global data science community. With limited oversight, the role will apply deep knowledge of the system and data science experience to develop improvements to YODA, focused on ML/AI and their configuration. The role supports the process of having changes implemented by development teams into production, especially where changes are difficult and complex and interact with other data scientists.

Here’s a summary of what Princess is looking for in a Sr. Data Scientist. Is this you?

• REVENUE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (RMS) SUPPORT:
  Provide coaching and support to colleagues, including those on other teams. Provide training and support for other data scientists on global teams to prioritize and develop improvements to the RMS. Data science teams exist in Miami, Seattle, Italy, Germany, and the UK to support this development. Provide escalated support for users in cases that cannot be handled within brand data science teams.
  
  Acquire a deep understanding of the business to balance science recommendations with business constraints. This involves listening to analysts and influencing the final solution, often as a compromise between science and business constraints. Perform difficult troubleshooting of science elements of YODA to determine the cause of anomalous results, typically using SQL queries to examine the scientific modules in specific cases.
• RMS IMPROVEMENTS AND GLOBAL
  
  COLLABORATION:
  
  Gather requirements and discuss modelling results with data teams distributed globally. Develop and prototype improvements to ML/AI elements of the RMS, with the goal of continuous improvement for revenue. Create innovative solutions for business problems within the RMS using state-of-the-art data science methods and tools. Present developed prototype modules and models to the wider data science community. Travel to international offices may be needed on a regular basis (up to ~25%).
• DRIVE IMPROVEMENTS THROUGH DATA-DRIVEN PROJECTS:
  Collaborate with senior staff across brands on topics of interest to stakeholders. Use insights from analytical studies to influence decision making and promote data science within the corporation. Collaborate with other teams to jointly develop plans for data science projects. Stay up to date with latest technologies and tools; attend conferences and build a network of specialists in AI.

Required:

• Proven record of working in teams to identify and solve problems and influence decision making.
• Ability to apply statistics, statistical modelling, and/or machine learning to real-world problems.
• Experience with large software projects involving AI/ML, operating within an agile framework.
