Lead Data Engineer

The Lead Data Engineer role helps our business evolve into a data and insights‑driven organization. This position sits in the Enterprise Data and Analytics team and provides technical leadership to the data platform engineering team. The role focuses on designing and implementing next‑generation data and analytics platforms, empowering business users through self‑service and automation.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operationalize data engineering solutions for Lennar’s data and analytics platforms and products.
  • Architect and implement ETL, ELT, and streaming data ingestion and delivery processes across multiple sources.
  • Experience in data modeling, cloud data lake, and cloud data warehouse.
  • Instrument data analytics platforms with robust metrics and monitoring.
  • Improve data ingestion architecture, emphasizing data quality, maintainability, and extensibility.
  • Support process improvement on the team to enable rapid development of data products.
  • Define and implement standards and best practices for the data analytics team, including code modularization, versioning, testing, automation of CI/CD workflows, and code reviews.
  • Gain an understanding of core business processes and align data development with business strategy.
  • Wrangle and integrate data from disparate systems to allow data analysts and data scientists to leverage end‑to‑end data and information.
Technical Requirements
  • At least 8 years of experience in data architecture design, data modeling, data warehousing concepts, data transformations, and standardizations.
  • Experience with ETL processes and strategies, monitoring, error handling, SDLC, code reviews, QA/testing, and SDLC workflow best practices.
  • Strong experience with AWS platform services (S3, EC2, EMR, EKS, Glue, Lambda, App Flow, Cloud Watch, etc.) and AWS certification is a plus.
  • Snowflake Data Cloud experience: account administration, virtual warehouse strategies, data sharing, time travel, zero‑copy cloning, role‑based access control.
  • Proficiency with dbt, managing dbt cloud environment, multi‑repository dbt projects, models, macros, and version control (Git Hub).
  • Strong programming skills in SQL and Python.
  • Data governance, security, and compliance concepts knowledge.
  • Data ingestion experience: incremental and CDC ingestion methods, REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with orchestration and scheduling tools (Prefect, Airflow) and Qlik Replicate.
