Mission StatementThe mission of a Senior Criminal Justice Information Technician at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to oversee and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely processing of criminal justice information. This role involves supervising and guiding junior technicians, managing complex data entry and retrieval tasks, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures. The position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
Responsibilities- Dive into the world of criminal justice by entering and interpreting vital statistical, financial, and technical data into our advanced computer systems.
- Maintain accurate offender records by reviewing and updating information from various documents, using standardized codes, and making necessary corrections.
- Act as a key contact for investigations by sending and receiving critical information and messages through various information centers.
- Respond to inquiries from authorized personnel about our information systems, ensuring compliance with criminal justice standards.
- Safeguard confidential information, maintain meticulous dissemination records, complete validation reports, and keep office equipment running smoothly with routine maintenance.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:
- Must possess two years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
- College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience. Vocational/technical training in an area of secretarial or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
- A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required work experience.
Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview, and/or during reference checks.
Background Screening RequirementThe Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
