Director, IT Security Operations – A full‑time leadership role focused on overseeing all aspects of security operations, incident response, and cybersecurity initiatives within the University of Miami Health System.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the enterprise security operations team, including staffing, performance management, hiring, training, evaluation, and termination.
  • Direct day‑to‑day security operations, incident response, and threat analysis, ensuring timely and effective mitigation of cyber threats.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for enterprise patch and vulnerability management, maintaining secure systems across the university.
  • Oversee the deployment and management of endpoint protection solutions and log ingestion from critical systems into SIEM and MDR tools.
  • Coordinate with Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service providers to investigate and resolve security incidents.
  • Develop and maintain security standards, policies, and procedures; monitor compliance with university policies and regulatory frameworks.
  • Prepare and deliver productivity reports, dashboards, and status reports on security operations to senior leadership.
  • Analyze cyber threat intelligence from multiple sources to anticipate emerging threats and recommend proactive defenses.
  • Manage project plans, risk assessments, vendor relationships, budgets, and strategic initiatives that support campus‑wide security goals.
  • Participate in professional development activities, conferences, and workshops to stay current on industry trends and best practices.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in information security, with significant experience in a Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT), Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), Security Operations Center (SOC), or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks such as ISO/IEC 27000 series, COBIT, NIST 800 series.
  • Certifications:

    CISSP, CISM, Security+, CEH, or equivalent cloud‑security certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a security team in high‑pressure environments.
  • Excellent analytical, decision‑making, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in enterprise security platforms, SIEM, MDR, and vulnerability management processes.
