This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Circuit 11-3 Miami South. The purpose of a Criminal Justice Information Technician at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to ensure the accurate and timely collection, processing, and dissemination of criminal justice information. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
Job duties include receiving, recording, and securing payments from probationers and parolees, ensuring precise data entry and auditing payment logs. Issuing receipts, correcting errors, and performing daily reconciliations for supervisor review and approval. Preparing essential transmittal correspondence and fiscal reports and collaborating with staff to maintain a smooth flow of information and provide crucial data. Reviewing, verifying, and editing documents for submission to courts and criminal justice agencies, all while maintaining strict confidentiality.
Engaging in diverse office tasks such as taking photos of probationers, responding to inquiries, managing supplies, and handling the creation and destruction of records.

Requirements include one year of secretarial or clerical work experience. A high school diploma or its equivalent or college education from an accredited institution at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours can substitute for the required work experience. Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
Additional information includes a background screening requirement and employment eligibility. The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
