Data Center Technician – Miami, FL

Miami, FL | Onsite

6+ Month Contract

Pay:
Up to $31/hour

Work Authorization: USC/GC (W2 only)

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of critical data center infrastructure in Miami, FL. This is a hands-on role supporting servers, storage, network equipment, structured cabling, low-voltage systems, and overall physical data center operations.

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience working in a data center or similar infrastructure environment and strong hands-on experience with structured copper and fiber cabling, rack and cable management, hardware installation, asset management, and infrastructure documentation.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and support data center hardware, infrastructure, and supporting systems to ensure high availability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Install, test, label, document, and maintain structured cabling infrastructure, including copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Perform network cabling, patching, cross-connects, cable routing, rack elevations, cable management, and connectivity validation across network, compute, and storage environments.
  • Coordinate fiber optic installation, splicing, testing, and termination activities with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Understand fiber optic standards, installation processes, testing, documentation, and deployment requirements. Hands-on fiber termination is not required.
  • Support low-voltage infrastructure, including network connectivity, environmental monitoring, access control, surveillance, and other supporting data center technologies.
  • Monitor data center environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, power utilization, and cooling performance.
  • Perform hardware installation, maintenance, decommissioning, moves, adds, and changes for servers, storage, network equipment, and supporting infrastructure.
  • Assist with equipment deployments, hardware refreshes, cabling projects, migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and facility expansions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for rack layouts, cable maps, fiber pathways, patch panels, network connectivity, asset inventory, and infrastructure changes.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, physical connectivity, structured cabling, and basic operating system or software issues.
  • Follow best practices for rack organization, cable management, airflow optimization, and physical infrastructure reliability.
  • Collaborate with Network Engineering, Systems Engineering, Security, Facilities, vendors, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Safely perform physical work in a data center environment, including lifting equipment, installing overhead or underfloor cabling, and working in hot and cold aisle environments.
