Job Overview
Specialized and technical work in collecting, retrieving, analyzing, organizing and presenting video evidence gathered from digital devices including, but not limited to, computers, cell phones, televisions, CCTV, and cameras.
Responsibilities- Retrieve videos for investigative units and/or public records requests.
- Prepare video for playback via editing, redacting, splicing, and/or enhancing; create side-by-sides and use other techniques to achieve optimal results.
- Log all requests and maintain records of all video evidence, ensuring the security and confidentiality of all files.
- Monitor video lab equipment, maintain functionality, and assist with the installation of necessary software and hardware.
- Prepare reports of work completed, ongoing, and pending; contribute to specialized reports regarding evidence, intelligence, and/or crime statistics.
- Appear in court to provide testimony on behalf of the Police Department.
- Perform other related work as required.
- A minimum of 60 college credits and two (2) years experience retrieving and processing video footage. Video editing experience preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license from any state (equivalent to a Florida Class
E) may be used upon application; a Florida Class E or higher must be presented before appointment and maintained while employed. - Willingness to work evenings, nights, and weekends as needed.
Veterans preference is awarded in accordance with Florida State Statute 295.07. Veterans must indicate on the application and submit DD‑214 (Member
4) and the applicable FDVA‑Veterans’ Preference Certification Form(s) in accordance with rule 55A‑7.013.
Residents receive selection preference per APM 2‑02. Any two of the following documents must be submitted with the application and again at the interview stage:
- Utility bill dated within 60 days of submission.
- Valid Florida Driver License or state‑issued I.D.
- Property tax statement dated within 1 year of submission.
- Valid lease agreement.
- Homestead exemption dated within 1 year of submission.
- Motor vehicle registration dated within 90 days of submission.
- Official school records or transcripts dated within 90 days of submission.
- W‑2 (or 1099) tax form dated within 1 year of submission.
