Billing Specialist

The Billing Specialist is a key contributor to the firm's financial operations, partnering closely with attorneys and legal professionals to ensure accurate, timely, and client-compliant billing. This role is ideal for a detail-driven professional who thrives in a fast-paced legal environment, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work that supports both client relationships and firm performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the end-to-end monthly billing process for assigned attorneys, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Review, edit, and analyze pre-bills for completeness, compliance with client guidelines, and firm standards.
  • Generate and finalize client invoices in accordance with matter-specific and client-specific requirements.
  • Process write-offs in compliance with firm policy, including obtaining required approvals.
  • Maintain and update client and matter billing rates based on engagement letters and agreements.
  • Partner with attorneys and legal staff to resolve billing inquiries, provide insight, and produce customized reports.
  • Prepare selective pre-bills and updated time entries upon attorney request.
  • Contribute to departmental initiatives, process improvements, and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of legal billing experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment;
    Am Law 200 firm experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with Aderant billing software.
  • Hands-on experience with eBilling platforms such as T360, Counsel Link, Legal X, Legal Tracker, and similar systems.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with attorneys and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a professional, client-focused approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
