Senior Associate Attorney - Labor and Employment

Position Overview

Lydecker is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney with 5+ years of experience for our Miami office. The applicant must be admitted to practice in Florida. The firm provides extensive training to new associates. Under the supervision of a partner, the associate will handle a variety of cases, including the defense of Labor and Employment law. • This position requires a Florida bar license in good standing.
• A minimum of a JD from an ABA‑approved law school.
• At least 5 years of civil defense litigation experience, preferably in Labor/Employment or General Liability.
• Experience managing up to 30 cases simultaneously, taking and defending depositions, court appearances, motion and discovery drafting. Mediation and trial experience is a huge plus; mentoring junior associates is also a huge plus.
• Basic computer skills: knowledge of internet, spreadsheet, and word‑processing software; proficiency with Microsoft products preferred; ability to type and operate office equipment.
• Be self‑motivated, a self‑starter, work well independently, and possess strong client communication skills.
• Oral communication: clear, persuasive speaking; active listening; responsive to questions; participates in meetings when required.
• Written communication: clear, informative writing; edits for spelling and grammar; varies style to meet audience needs; presents numerical data effectively; reads and interprets written information.
• Temperament
  : works with little supervision; prioritizes and anticipates work needs; manages occasional periods of pressure and short deadlines.
• Ethics
  : keeps client and firm information confidential; understands and implements general rules of ethical behavior applicable to lawyers.

• Draft, review, and respond to petitions/complaints, motions, and written discovery.
• Attend hearings and meetings with clients as requested.
• Prepare for and attend depositions.
• Assist with preparation for and/or participate in mediation and trial.
• Must be willing and able to bill.
• Any other duties as assigned.
