Miami, FL | Full-Time | In-Office

Freidin Brown, P.A. is looking for a sharp, self-starting associate attorney to join its plaintiffs' medical malpractice and personal injury team, working directly with the Managing Partner on high-stakes catastrophic injury and medical malpractice matters.

Freidin Brown, P.A. is a Miami-based plaintiffs' firm focused on medical malpractice, catastrophic injury, wrongful death, construction litigation, and insurance litigation, representing clients throughout Florida.

This is a long-term role for an attorney who wants to build a career trying serious injury and malpractice cases, with direct mentorship from the firm's managing partner and a clear path to greater case responsibility.

About

The Role

From day one, the associate will assist with an active caseload of medical malpractice and personal injury matters, working closely with the managing partner and the paralegal team on case strategy, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation. Business development is not a primary expectation of this role; the firm's focus is on case execution and client service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with a caseload of medical malpractice, catastrophic injury, and wrongful death matters from intake through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation documents
  • Prepare for (and eventually take and defend) depositions of parties, treating physicians, and expert witnesses
  • Work with the managing partner and paralegal staff to develop case strategy and trial preparation
  • Review and analyze medical records to identify and develop claims of negligence and damages
  • Communicate directly with clients to provide case updates and manage expectations
  • Attend hearings, mediations, and trials as needed
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses on causation, standard of care, and damages issues
  • Manage and oversee case deadlines to ensure compliance with all court deadlines
Requirements Experience and background:
  • 0-3 years of litigation experience, ideally in plaintiffs' medical malpractice or personal injury
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Prior clerkship or law review experience preferred
Must-haves:
  • Active member in good standing of The Florida Bar
  • Highly intelligent, self-starting, and driven, with a strong academic and professional pedigree
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a client-focused approach
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple case deadlines independently
Benefits Why This Role Stands Out:
  • Work directly with a respected trial attorney on catastrophic injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death cases
  • Meaningful case responsibility and courtroom exposure early in your career
  • Collaborative, well-resourced team with an experienced paralegal supporting each matter
  • Competitive compensation with annual discretionary bonus tied to individual and firm performance
  • Strong benefits package including 401(k) with profit sharing, full health coverage, and free parking
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Salary: $120,000-$200,000, commensurate with experience
  • Annual discretionary bonus based on individual and firm performance
  • Full health care coverage and HSA (after 1 year of employment), plus dental and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan with profit sharing program participation
  • Life and disability insurance available
  • Parking included
  • Paid time off
