Duties And Essential Functions
- Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, common rooms (party room, children’s play room, fitness center) and other work areas so that health standards are met.
- Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies using vacuum cleaners and/or shampooers.
- Empty wastebaskets, ashtrays, and transport trash to disposal areas.
- Carry toilet items and cleaning supplies using wheeled carts.
- Sweep, scrub, wax, and/or polish floors with brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
- Dust and polish furniture and equipment.
- Keep storage areas and carts well‑stocked, clean, and tidy.
- Remove debris from driveways, garages, and swimming pool areas.
- Wash windows, walls, ceilings, doors, and woodwork; wax and polish as necessary.
- Report all maintenance items, such as burned out lights, leaks, or broken equipment, to the Building Maintenance Department.
- Disinfect equipment and supplies using germicides or steam‑operated sterilizers.
- Dust window blinds.
- Observe all State, Federal and Company safety standards while performing tasks to maintain a safe work environment.
- Protect residents, guests, and property; report damage, theft, and found articles to supervisors.
- Prepare rooms for meetings and arrange decorations and furniture for social or business functions.
- Properly utilize new equipment and follow safety procedures prior to use.
- Respond to emergency maintenance requests as required.
The housekeeper works in a residential environment, primarily cleaning common areas and waiting areas while handling chemical cleaning solutions. Exposure to outdoor climate and weather conditions is required.
Physical Demands- Stand for extended periods, walk, climb stairs and ladders, crawl in tight spaces, stoop and kneel.
- Lift and carry up to 20 pounds in the work environment.
- Push cleaning equipment up to 30 lbs.
- Handle, grasp, feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Repeat various wrist, hand, and finger motions.
Non‑exempt position (hourly); schedule will be determined at each property/location to suit business needs and may change to accommodate those needs.
Required Education And Experience- At least one year of experience managing and supervising a housekeeping department.
- Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products and how to use them properly.
- Ability to use standard cleaning equipment in a residential building (vacuum cleaner, floor polisher, cleaning cart, etc.).
- Must react and address all emergency situations in a timely manner.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
