Admissions Director

Unity Health and Rehabilitation Center – Miami, FL

Unity Health and Rehabilitation Center is seeking an experienced Admissions Director to oversee the referral intake, bed management, and admissions operations for our 270-bed skilled nursing facility located in Miami.

The Admissions Director plays a key role in managing the referral process, coordinating admissions, maintaining census and payer mix, and ensuring a smooth transition for residents from referral through admission.

This position requires strong knowledge of skilled nursing admissions, payer sources, and bed management in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates are preferred.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate the entire admissions process from referral to admission.

  • Manage referral intake, clinical review, and follow-up in collaboration with Marketing Liaisons.

  • Maintain and manage the facility bed board and census mix, ensuring appropriate placement for residents including clinically complex patients (ventilator, trach, contact isolation, etc.).

  • Responsible for maintaining strong census performance and appropriate payer mix through effective referral management and bed placement.

  • Supervise the Admissions Coordinator and oversee the processing of admission documentation both pre- and post-admission.

  • Supervise and audit the timely completion of admission agreements and required documentation, ensuring compliance with facility, state, and federal requirements.

  • Ensure insurance verification, authorization, and required clinical documentation are obtained prior to admission.

  • Monitor and manage Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care admissions, including authorization processes when required.

  • Maintain knowledge and compliance with PASRR requirements and state regulations.

  • Communicate admissions, discharges, payer changes, and bed availability to appropriate departments.

  • Coordinate closely with the Director of Nursing, Business Office, Guest Services, and Housekeeping to ensure proper bed placement and room readiness.

  • Conduct facility tours and provide clear information regarding services, clinical capabilities, and admission requirements.

  • Serve as a point of contact for hospitals, referral sources, families, and prospective residents.

  • Supervise the collection of Medicaid documentation and eligibility information when applicable.

  • Track and analyze referral activity, admission trends, and census opportunities.

  • Promote positive relationships with hospitals, community partners, and case managers.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations related to admissions.

  • Maintain high standards for customer service and first impressions, working closely with the Guest Relations Coordinator.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in admissions, census development, bed management, or related role within a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF).

  • Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, Managed Care, and insurance authorization processes.

  • Knowledge of PASRR requirements.

  • Experience managing clinically complex admissions and bed placement.

  • Experience with Point Click Care  (PCC) preferred.

  • Strong understanding of census management and payer mix.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.

  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
