Project Health & Safety Manager 1

Position SummaryThe Project Health & Safety Manager administers the health & safety program and serves as a manager ensuring safety compliance by the project team, all employees and subcontractors working at the project site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Support all health & safety efforts on the project and promote the JV partners and client’s safety culture.
- Ensure all tier contractor activities are pre-planned for safety through scope review, attendance and participation of all preconstruction meetings, attendance and participation of all methods meetings, and JHA (Job Hazard Analysis) reviews.
- Implement new and/or edit existing procedures to suit the needs of the project throughout all construction phases.
- Host weekly senior management safety meetings with all project leads.
- Host monthly all‑hands safety meetings.
- Ensure all tier contractors meet client’s safety submittal requirements.
- Maintain all safety‑related documentation.
- Ensure contractor compliance with client’s safety plan & expectations.
- Make recommendations concerning situations hazardous to employee Health & Safety.
- Utilize safety software to audit and monitor project team implementation of the Project Health & Safety Plan.
- Perform thorough daily safety inspections minimum of twice daily.
- Provide safety training to project team on client, JV partners and OSHA requirements.
- Lead or be personally involved in all accidents/nearmiss investigations and complete all paperwork required within permitted time frames.
- Order and ensure project teams have all required safety equipment and resources.
- Effective two‑way communication skills – listen to understand and clearly convey information in all forms based on the audience to ensure the shared meaning of the message.
- Relationship building – by building relationships with our partners and subcontractors, we build trust that allows us to support their needs continuously. We aim to bridge the gap between owners, contractors and workers.
- Ability to identify, analyze and evaluate risk, and to prevent incidents including injuries, equipment and property damage, and near‑misses.
- Ability to draft safe work procedures, job hazard analyses, trainings, health & safety plans and presentations.
- Minimum of 5 or more years of managing major construction safety experience required.
- OSHA 30 Construction required; OSHA 500 and OSHA 510 a plus.
- BCSP credential of CHST (or equivalent) preferred.
- Spanish language proficiency is highly desirable.
- Must have strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint (must be able to create and use Excel spreadsheets for tracking metrics and trend analysis and create presentations which will be used for trainings/orientations).
- Must have advanced knowledge of OSHA CFR 1926 standards and other recognized safety regulations and standards such as NIOSH, ANSI, NFPA, U.S. DOT, etc.
- Demonstrate agility / adaptability – maintain effectiveness and adapt to change by exploring the rationale, trying new approaches, and collaborating with others to make the changes successful. Create an atmosphere of open‑mind‑ness to change.
