Operations Manager
Position Summary
The Director of Operations is responsible for overseeing all aspects of customs operations, including brokerage, transportation, customer service, and administrative functions within the regional area. This role ensures compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, drives operational efficiency, achieves key performance indicators and regional financial goals, and fosters strong client relationships. The Director will lead a team of licensed brokers and supporting staff through policies and SOPs and collaborate cross‑functionally to support the company’s brokerage operations.
This position will be based in Miami, FL.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of licensed customs brokers and operational staff.
- Collaborate with leadership to align operations with company financial and service goals.
- Address any deficiencies immediately, with appropriate follow‑up and process adjustments to protect the company’s interests.
- Participate in local and national trade associations representing the company in key vertical segments.
- Ensure full compliance with regulations, policies and procedures.
- Implement and oversee key audits and necessary operational adjustments.
- Partner with regulatory and trade services to ensure a high level of service and capabilities.
- Monitor service levels to ensure billing and compliance KPIs are achieved.
- Adjust local/regional processes to improve speed, accuracy, and customer satisfaction as needed.
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures across regional functions.
- Strategically partner with peer operational directors to support the larger team and customer base.
- Serve as a senior point of contact for key clients regarding operations.
- Support sales and account management teams in developing solutions for clients.
- Support the onboarding of new clients and monitor service levels, participating in business reviews with key clients.
- Support the adoption of new technology solutions to streamline processes and align with the company’s automation efforts.
- Work with IT and sales to implement technological integration with clients.
- Licensed U.S. Customs Broker (required).
- 8‑10 years of management experience in logistics, supply chain, customs brokerage or related field.
- Deep understanding of international and customs regulations and compliance.
- Proven track record of managing large teams and complex operations.
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong client‑facing skills and business acumen.
- Experience working with multinational clients and global trade regulations.
- Liaison experience with Cargowise is a plus.
Pay Range: $140,000 - $190,000 per year
