Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located at the west end of the historic Globe-Miami mining district of central Arizona, approximately 80 miles east of Phoenix. Pinto Valley has been in operation since 1972 and has produced more than four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone from BHP in 2013, the mine is fully permitted through 2039 and a study is underway to potentially extend the mine life through 2050.

The Mine Shift Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and directing mining activities across all active loading areas during the assigned shift. This role ensures mine production activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the mine plan while meeting productivity, quality, and operational performance targets.

Working closely with Mine Technical Services, Mine Operations, Crushing Operations, and mining contractors, the Mine Shift Supervisor provides frontline leadership to Mine Technicians and equipment operators. The position is accountable for maintaining safe working conditions, optimizing loading and haulage performance, managing workforce activities, and responding to operational issues that impact production.

• Safety & Compliance: Conduct workplace examinations, lead pre-shift safety meetings, ensure compliance with site safety standards, manage fatigue monitoring activities, and ensure personnel remain clear of blast exclusion zones.
• Incident Management: Respond to incidents, secure and preserve incident scenes, gather statements and evidence, complete required documentation, and submit safety observations and good catches.
• Production Supervision: Coordinate and supervise mining activities across active loading areas to achieve production, productivity, and operational performance targets.
• Equipment Performance: Monitor loading unit productivity, haul truck performance, tonnage movement, pit floor conditions, berm compliance, and dust control activities.
