Sr. Manager, Facilities & Operations
The University of Miami/UHealth has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Sr. Manager, Facilities & Operations to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Sr. Manager, Facilities & Operations – Central (H) administers leadership for various projects, programs, and assigned departments, overseeing maintenance mechanics, contractors, and other service personnel to ensure high‑quality conditions of assigned facilities.
Responsibilities- Coordinate work orders, preventative maintenance, and renovation projects for assigned areas.
- Provide estimates and budgets for project work, maintenance contracts, reimbursable work requests and facility events.
- Ensure proper training of staff and prepare performance reports.
- Orchestrate activities needed to prepare facilities in the event of a hurricane or other disaster and play a major role in restoration projects.
- Serve as single point of contact for all projects in progress and projects completed in the assigned area.
- Oversee that proper certifications are obtained for construction and repairs.
- Escalate disputes to appropriate managing staff and contact appropriate parties with status updates and resolutions of issues.
- Make sure that work orders are properly entered, serviced, and closed out; ensure continuous compliance with regulations, procedures, and documentation.
- Inspect equipment regularly and detect and correct any issues.
- Establish and continuously assess the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures; ensure employees are trained on controls and university policy.
- Monitor all steam and reheat systems to assure correct and efficient operation.
- Manage and prioritize maintenance and repair needs and coordinate with vendors when outsourcing is necessary.
- Supervise, coordinate, and monitor UHealth / Miller School of Medicine facilities and central steam plant activities.
- Maintain equipment and perform related duties to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the UHealth / MSOM steam plants, steam distribution system, and auxiliary and support system.
- Provide personnel safety program leadership and ensure all direct reports adhere to UHealth / MSOM policies, procedures and required training related to workplace safety.
- Ensure all operations comply with UHealth / MSOM policies and procedures and environmental and safety regulations.
- Properly document operations activities in log and/or incident reports.
- Coordinate with service providers to prepare and submit reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Analyze plants’ operational data and reconfigure operating units as needed to provide reliable, efficient service.
- Investigate abnormal operating events or equipment failures to determine root cause; make adjustments, repairs, and/or modifications as needed.
- Organize and maintain an inventory of parts, tools, equipment and supplies.
- Manage buildings & steam systems operations and maintenance program of the assigned trades and identify areas needing improvement or further development.
- Ensure all facilities equipment is properly operated and maintained, track all labor and material in the CMMS.
- Track Kronos time reporting records and approve payroll time recording for personnel assigned to the position.
- Administer and maintain the Facilities Maintenance Program (TMA) and all preventive maintenance procedures throughout the area of responsibility.
- Communicate with Directors about emerging maintenance issues in a timely fashion.

Core Qualifications- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
- Boiler operator certification, Journeyman HVAC License, or Master HVAC License preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience managing preventative maintenance needs and programs, with budget preparation and monitoring procedures, report writing, and record keeping; plumbers and steamfitters preferred.
