CORE JOB SUMMARY

The Co-Medical Director of the Tamer Institute for Women's Health provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for a comprehensive women's health program at the University of Miami Health System. The Co-Medical Director is responsible for advancing an integrated, patient-centered model of care that addresses the unique health needs of women from adolescence onwards, including preventive care, reproductive health, menopause and perimenopause management, and healthy aging.

The Co-Medical Director will guide the Tamer Institute for Women's Health in providing seamless care tailored to each phase of life, and redefining women's healthcare in South Florida by creating a first in kind model that combines clinical excellence, research innovation, education, and holistic personalized care.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer of UHealth, and responsible to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost, the Co-Medical Director will champion clinical excellence, innovation, quality improvement, interdisciplinary collaboration, research, education, and community engagement while supporting the Institute's mission to become a nationally recognized destination for comprehensive women's healthcare.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

Clinical Leadership

  • Provide physician leadership and oversight for all clinical programs within the Institute.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based clinical pathways, standards of care, and best practices.
  • Ensure high-quality, safe, equitable, and patient-centered care delivery.
  • Foster collaboration among physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and allied health professionals.
  • Support the development of multidisciplinary care models that improve patient outcomes and access.

Strategic Planning and Program Development

  • Partner with executive leadership to define and execute the Institute's strategic vision.
  • Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, and service expansion.
  • Lead the development of new clinical programs and specialty services that address emerging women's health needs.
  • Establish strategic partnerships within UHealth and across the community.

Quality and Performance Improvement

  • Monitor and improve clinical quality metrics, patient safety indicators, patient satisfaction, and operational performance.
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives aligned with UHealth's goals.
  • Promote data-driven decision-making and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and institutional standards.

Research and Academic Excellence

  • Support and promote clinical, translational, and population health research focused on women's health.
  • Collaborate with faculty investigators to expand research opportunities and external funding.
  • Encourage participation in clinical trials and innovative care models.

Faculty and Staff Leadership

  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain outstanding clinical faculty and staff.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, professionalism, accountability, and inclusion.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development initiatives.
  • Build interdisciplinary teams dedicated to advancing women's health.

Community Engagement and Advocacy

  • Serve as an ambassador for the Tamer Institute for Women's Health and UHealth within the community.
  • Promote women's health education, outreach, and preventive care initiatives.
  • Develop partnerships with community organizations, employers, and advocacy groups.
  • Represent the Institute at regional and national conferences and professional organizations.

Financial and Operational Oversight

  • Collaborate with administrative leadership to achieve financial sustainability and operational excellence.
  • Participate in budgeting, resource allocation, and strategic investments.
  • Monitor clinical productivity, access metrics, and program performance.
  • Support initiatives that improve efficiency, patient access, and care coordination.
  • Ensure internal control oversight and compliance with laws and regulations, safeguarding of assets, compliance with University policies and procedures, reliability of internal and external reporting, and efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
  • Creates an effective control environment, conducts risk assessment, implements, and monitors controls.
