Overview

Plant Operator – Miami, FL

Airgas seeks an experienced Plant Operator to manage cylinder handling, maintenance, and quality control across the facility. The role focuses on ensuring safe, efficient operations and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate cylinder filling operations to meet stock inventory and customer demand.
  • Inspect new and returned cylinders, bundles, and accessories; evaluate frame and manifold condition and sort for maintenance or readiness.
  • Operate and prepare maintenance equipment (hydrotest machine, dryer, painting equipment, oven) and perform cylinder or valve leak tests using soapy water.
  • Paint cylinders in accordance with government compliance and standards; conduct hydrotest machine testing under regulatory requirements.
  • Valve and de‑valve cylinders following AL safety standards; dry and vacuum bake cylinders.
  • Maintain cylinder conformity by color and gas type, and facilitate a smooth handover to the filling area.
  • Initialize GTS barcode on cylinders after maintenance procedures.
  • Replace defective accessories, install caps and valves according to gas and cylinder allocation, and attach stickers per product specifications.
  • Perform quality checks, including dew‑point checks per batch cylinder VBO as required; ensure product integrity; conduct functional testing on analyzers when qualified.
Qualifications
  • Natural curiosity and strong problem‑solving skills for equipment and process challenges.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Commitment to safety protocols and workplace security.
  • Proficiency in operating a forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and occasional extra hours to support teammates.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in plant operations, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
  • Technical certification in industrial operations.
  • Industrial gas experience.
