Material Handler – Shipping Yard

The Material Handler – Shipping Yard is responsible for the safe and efficient handling of castings in our outdoor shipping yard. This role plays a critical part in loading, unloading, staging, and organizing heavy cast iron products to meet shipping schedules and customer orders.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts and heavy equipment to move large castings throughout the shipping yard
• Load and unload trucks according to shipping documents and schedules
• Prepare and stage castings for outbound shipments
• Perform visual inspections of castings for damage before shipment
• Maintain organized, clean, and safe yard areas in compliance with safety regulations
• Accurately record and report inventory movements
• Communicate effectively with the shipping team, production team, and truck drivers
• Assist in yard counts, cycle counts, and inventory tracking when needed

Requirements & Qualifications

• Prior experience in a manufacturing or shipping/receiving yard environment preferred
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
• Forklift operation experience required (certification a plus)
• Ability to safely handle and move heavy materials
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow shipping paperwork
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions
• Dependable and able to work with minimal supervision
