Position OverviewRose of Sharon Nursery, a large-scale foliage plant grower, is seeking an experienced Production Manager to oversee daily growing operations across our nursery facilities. This role is responsible for driving crop quality, production efficiency, and operational execution while leading teams to meet production schedules and customer commitments.
The ideal candidate combines strong horticultural knowledge with proven leadership and operational management experience in high-volume nursery production.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all aspects of nursery production including propagation, growing, spacing, maintenance, and harvest readiness.
- Develop and execute production plans aligned with sales forecasts and shipping schedules.
- Monitor crop health, quality standards, and growth timelines to ensure market-ready product.
- Lead, train, and supervise production teams and area supervisors.
- Coordinate closely with IPM, logistics, and sales teams to maintain crop performance and availability.
- Optimize labor planning, workflow efficiency, and resource allocation.
- Maintain inventory accuracy and production tracking systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and reduce loss.
- Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Plant Science, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5+ years of production management experience in a commercial nursery or greenhouse operation.
- Strong knowledge of ornamental plant production practices and crop scheduling.
- Experience managing large teams in a fast-paced agricultural environment.
- Proven leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze production data and make operational decisions.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
