The Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Communications team oversees and manages all aspects of communication across the region, including employee communications, reputation management, executive positioning and thought leadership, and internal engagement initiatives. In support of regional business objectives, the team sets the strategic communications agenda and drives its execution in close collaboration with market communications leads and cross‑functional partners.
Context and Scope of the RoleThe Senior Communications Specialist provides operational and executional support to the LAC regional communications team. This support focuses on the internal communications function, including employee engagement, events, and volunteerism across the region. The individual will collaborate closely with the internal comms regional lead, market communications teams, regional stakeholders, and internal partners to deliver consistent, engaging, and effective communications programs.
Key Responsibilities / Major Accountabilities- Budget Management:
Support and manage the communications budget for the LAC region, including tracking expenses, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring alignment with regional priorities. - Employee Communications & Engagement:
Plan and execute employee communications events and campaigns, including concept development, messaging, creative direction, and execution. Design and implement engagement initiatives to drive employee participation and connection, including recognition and giveaway programs. - Events & Logistics:
Plan and manage logistics for internal and external events, including employee town halls, office events, off‑site activities, thought leadership forums, and regional initiatives. Support broadcast and production of events via Zoom and Microsoft Teams, including coordination, testing, and live execution. - Internal Communications Channels:
Manage and maintain internal communications platforms, including the intranet (The Hub), electronic bulletin boards, and Salesforce newsletters. Ensure content is timely, accurate, engaging, and aligned with regional messaging priorities. - Volunteerism & Community Engagement:
Lead regional volunteering initiatives and serve as primary point of contact for volunteerism‑related activities. Provide guidance to market communications teams on volunteerism guidelines, donations, and best practices. Provide tools, templates, guidance, and best practices as needed. - Thought Leadership & Special Projects:
Support regional thought leadership initiatives and events, including the Mastercard LAC Innovation Forum. Contribute to ad‑hoc communications projects in support of regional priorities.
