About the RoleWe are looking for a self‑driven and strategic Director of Merchandising, who will be a key member of the leadership team driving IPSY into its next stage of growth. This position reports to the VP of Merchandising and is hybrid remote with one day per week in our Pembroke Pines office.
What You’ll Be Doing- Own and evolve IPSY’s subscription merchandising vision, translating it into a clear, executable strategy presented to leadership.
- Set the merchandising direction by program, holding Brand Partnerships accountable to a curated, on‑strategy assortment that delivers measurable member delight.
- Drive the full merchandise planning cycle with the Planning team, owning cost targets, assortment architecture, and in‑season performance.
- Define and lead IPSY’s approach to personalization from a merchandising lens, partnering with Ops Personalization to ensure the framework reflects real member needs and product strategy.
- Be the internal authority on beauty trends and member preferences, synthesizing Consumer Insights data into forward‑looking assortment and sourcing decisions.
- Own the product narrative calendar in partnership with Marketing, driving alignment on trend storytelling, monthly themes, and Glam Bag design direction.
- Lead the Product Development team's merchandising strategy end‑to‑end, setting the vision, prioritizing the roadmap, and holding the team accountable to products that support our merchandising vision.
- Own the merchandising strategy for Beauty Boost and Add‑Ons, ensuring alignment with broader subscription goals.
- Identify new merchandise categories with full market sizing, member relevance, sourcing approach, and a phased recommendation for leadership.
- Set the standard for member‑facing product education in partnership with marketing, ensuring content across email, social, and collateral is useful for our members.
- Build, develop, and hold a high bar for a team of merchants across sample and full‑size programs, coaching for both execution excellence and strategic thinking.
- Support the Mexico Glam Bag program in a strategic advisory capacity, applying domestic learnings to accelerate international performance.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business or merchandising‑related fields.
- 10+ years of direct work experience in merchandising or buying.
- 3+ years in a Director‑level role; beauty experience preferred.
- Experience analyzing markets and trends, anticipating opportunities, and developing strategic insights.
- Proactive self‑starter with excellent interpersonal and time‑management skills and impeccable attention to detail.
- Flexible and comfortable in a fast‑paced, always‑changing environment with the ability to problem‑solve.
- Clear demonstration of internal cross‑functional partnership and collaboration.
- Strong interpersonal/social skills; excellent presentation and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Docs.
