Social Media And Digital Communications Specialist
The Frost School of Music at the University of Miami seeks a creative, collaborative, and highly organized Social Media and Digital Communications Specialist to join its Marketing & Communications Department. Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Social Media and Digital Communications Specialist manages the day-to-day execution of the Frost School's social media and digital communications initiatives, helping advance the school's visibility, reputation, and community engagement goals.
The Social Media and Digital Communications Specialist develops, creates, and publishes engaging content across the Frost School's digital channels, including social media, website, email communications, and other digital platforms. Working closely with the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Specialist supports the implementation of strategic marketing and communications initiatives while ensuring consistency with the Frost School's brand, messaging, and University standards.
The Specialist serves as the primary content administrator for the Frost School website, maintaining accurate, timely, and audience-focused content through the University's Content Management System (CMS). The position also develops digital creative assets, monitors social media and website analytics, supports digital advertising initiatives, and collaborates across the school to promote academic programs, faculty, students, alumni, donors, institutional initiatives, and special events.
The ideal candidate is a proactive communicator with strong digital content creation, graphic design, project management, and organizational skills who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Core responsibilities:
- Utilizes understanding of institutional objectives, brand guidelines, and strategy to develop business awareness and generate online and social media traffic.
- Develops unique social media content calendars and posts specific to varying platforms.
- Develops email marketing content geared to driving high open and click rates.
- Contributes to the creation of content for websites, flyers, and press releases.
- Monitors, measures, and reports on social media activities and performance.
- Remains informed of evolving industry trends for new content ideas and platform uses.
- Ensures consistency of voice and campaign integration for all marketing assets.
- Identifies influencers and supporters, spots trends, moderates comments, and establishes community culture and tone.
- Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
Department Specific Functions:
60% SOCIAL MEDIA AND CONTENT MANAGEMENT
- Develops, schedules, publishes, and manages content across the Frost School of Music's institutional social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, Linked In, X, You Tube, and Tik Tok.
- Maintains and manages social media and digital content calendars in collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications and key stakeholders to ensure timely, strategic, and coordinated communications.
- Coordinates and manages the social media content review and approval process, ensuring content is reviewed by appropriate stakeholders, revised as needed, and published accurately and on schedule.
- Monitors and analyzes social media performance, prepares reports, and recommends opportunities to improve audience engagement and digital performance.
- Creates engaging digital content that promotes academic programs, faculty, students, alumni, donors, institutional initiatives, and special events while supporting the Frost School's marketing and communications objectives.
- Designs high-quality, on-brand creative assets for social media, flyers, presentations, email communications, website, and other marketing and communications materials.
- Develops polished presentations and visual materials for executive leadership and institutional meetings, balancing multiple priorities while meeting tight deadlines.
- Ensures consistency with University and Frost School branding, messaging, and editorial standards across all digital communications.
- Maintains organized digital asset libraries, including photography, graphics, video, and other marketing resources.
- Supports the planning, development, and execution of digital advertising campaigns, email marketing initiatives, and other digital communications projects.
- Collaborates with University Communications and other campus partners to amplify institutional messaging and increase visibility.
- Attends special events and media opportunities outside regular business hours, as assigned, to capture content and support the Frost School's communications efforts.
30% WEBSITE MANAGEMENT
