Overview

Legacy Corps for Veterans and Military Families (LCVMF) is a National Direct Ameri Corps program that provides Caregiver Support Services to veterans and military families in Miami, Florida. Ameri Corps volunteers deliver community‑based support services to reduce caregiver burden and empower care recipients. The position requires volunteers to complete a minimum of 450 hours of service and training during a 12‑month term, averaging 8–12 hours per week.

• Provide in‑home respite care to 1–2 families per week, allowing caregivers to meet essential personal or family needs.
• Disseminate information on medical conditions, coping strategies, social services, support venues, and resources to caregivers and care recipients.
• Create and support peer‑to‑peer networks, transitional services, transportation (as authorized by the sub‑recipient agency), childcare respite, and community outreach for volunteer generation.
• Participate in pre‑service training and ongoing professional development opportunities throughout the service year (up to 90 additional training hours).
