General Overview:

The Philanthropy Officer is responsible for planning, developing, and managing the fundraising strategies and initiatives to support the mission and goals of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.  This role involves building and maintaining relationships with donors, identifying potential funding opportunities, and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve fundraising metrics.

Essential Responsibilities:

Among the administrative and operational responsibilities, the Philanthropy Officer will:
* Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet annual revenue targets.
* Establish philanthropic partnerships with physicians and scientists in assigned site disease areas through physician strategy visits (minimum 10 per month).
* Identify prospective donors and funding sources, in conjunction with faculty and staff, and qualify prospects (150 annually) to establish and build a robust portfolio (minimum 125).
* Build and maintain long-term relationships with current and prospective donors.
* Develop cultivation and solicitation plans that include donor meetings, lab tours, and engagement opportunities to secure donations.
* Ensure regular personalized communication and stewardship with donors, acknowledging their contributions and providing regular updates on the impact of their gifts.
* Collaborate with development communications team to develop fundraising materials for assigned site disease area.
* Maintain communications with colleagues in medical departments, other schools and central development to ensure effective collaborations and synergy in achieving the university’s key fundraising goals and objectives.
* Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of the Department’s funding priorities, both general and specific to various programs and departments.
