DescriptionThe Direct Patient Care Registered Nurse (DPC RN) is a licensed professional who delivers patient-family centered care in a culturally competent manner. The DPC RN demonstrates proficiency and mastery of core competencies including assessment, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, planning, intervention, evaluation, flexibility, organizational skills, professional accountability, leadership, and service, while utilizing and promoting evidence-based practice standards of quality, safety, and service.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care and ensure patient-family centered care aligned with evidence-based standards.
- Demonstrate core competencies in assessment, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, planning, intervention, evaluation, and leadership.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality care.
- Maintain professional accountability and participate in ongoing professional development and training.

Licenses &
Certifications:
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
- ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program.
- Basic Life Support.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support.
- Registered Nurse.
Additional Qualifications:
- Associates degree in Nursing or Bachelors degree in Nursing.
- RNs hired prior to 2/1/2012 (South), 10/1/2017 (Bethesda), 10/1/2023 (Boca), 7/1/2018 (Fisherman‘s) are not required to have a BSN to continue in their non-leadership role as an RN.
- RNs hired after 2/1/2012 (South), 10/1/2017 (Bethesda), 10/1/2023 (Boca), 7/1/2018 (Fisherman‘s) with an Associate‘s degree will have 3 years from their date of hire to complete the BSN degree.
- RN must complete a preceptor class within twelve months of being deemed competent by department leadership for independent practice.
- As per department standard any of the following may be required (ACLS, BLS, PALS, NRP, or ONS-Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card).
