Location: Temple, TX

Facility: BSWH McLane Children's Hospital

Department: Pediatric MSU

Schedule: Full-Time, Nights, 7P-7A, (3) 12 hours shifts per week

Unit Specifics: 48 beds, private medical/surgical rooms serving ages 0-21 years.

At least 1-2 years of Pediatric experience required

BSWH McLane Children’s Medical Center in Temple is designed with your child in mind with state-of-the-art technology, equipment and accommodations sized just for children. The Temple location is also the home of our flagship neonatal intensive care unit, a Level IV NICU.

Patient care environment strives to be soothing and familiar for children and their families.

  • ECMO therapy available in the NICU
  • Pediatric and neonatal transport ambulance and helicopter

Patient Population: Pediatric Medical Surgical Patients ages 0-21 years and Pediatric Hematology Oncology

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing professional practice model to coordinate patient care by the health care team. The RN assesses the patient, identifies nursing diagnoses, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, and evaluates the patient’s response. The RN promotes safe passage for patients by applying knowledge of patient needs and the healthcare environment to support transitions without preventable complications.

The RN delegates interventions based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act and patient condition.

RN roles include inpatient and outpatient units with 24/7 staffing. Examples include GI Lab, Pain Management, Dialysis, Infusion Centers and IV Services.
