Certified Nursing Assistant; U Head & Neck, Per Diem

Overview

The University of Miami Health System has an exciting opportunity for a CNA. The Certified Nursing Assistant performs various direct patient care activities under the supervision of a registered nurse at University of Miami Hospital & Clinics - Nursing 7 North Head & Neck UTower.

• Work Shift:
  
  Per Diem (PD) 1 or 2 X 12 hrs. Days, Nights; 1 Weekend Day is required.
• Work Location:
  
  University of Miami Hospital & Clinics - Nursing 7 North Head & Neck UTower.

• Assist patients in dressing or undressing, bathing, and eating; collect noninvasive body fluid specimens or gather vital signs.
• Aid physicians and nursing staff with procedures and document patient interactions.
• Provide for patients’ personal hygiene (bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, shaves) and assist with showers.
• Assist with meals, feed patients, ambulate, turn and position patients, and provide water and nourishment between meals.
• Administer enemas, douches, non-sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sitz baths, and apply restraints as required.
• Perform sugar and acetone urine testing, specimen collection, and post-mortem care.
• Answer patients’ call lights and requests promptly.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for patients and staff; transport patients and equipment.
• Report patient conditions to the assigned nurse for professional assessment.
• Measure and record food and liquid intake and output; check and record vital signs. Assist with walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed.
• Adhere to University and unit-level policies and safeguard University assets.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
• Certification and Licensing: CNA license and BLS certification
• Experience: Minimum 0 - 1 year of relevant experience
