Position: Registered Nurse 2 - Mohs - Full Time

Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) works as part of a team to provide quality care to designated patients. The RN works within the scope of practice defined by the Florida Board of Nursing Practice Act.

Accountabilities

Performance Nursing Duties as per Nurse Job Description 100%

  • Perform patient interviews and obtain vital signs.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges and transfers within the facility.
  • Administer medications and therapies within the scope of safe nursing practice following nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Perform skilled nursing procedures within the scope of safe nursing practice following nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Arrange for tests and procedures; document appropriate information in a timely manner according to policies.
  • Perform daily checks in each unit covered by the team to ensure equipment safety for patients and personnel.
  • Monitor availability of supplies and order replacements to assure efficient operation.
  • Respond and assist team members and other personnel in patient emergency situations.
  • Coordinate patient preparations for certain procedures with charge nurses, unit nurses, nurse liaisons, ARNPs, technologists, and physicians.
  • Orient new staff; identify needs of new staff regulars and supplemental staff; provide support and guidance as needed.
  • Create a comfortable environment for staff, physicians, and other health care personnel; be knowledgeable and effective in carrying out unit and hospital policies; support performance improvement activities; report concerns to the Clinic Nurse Supervisor.
Professional Accountability
  • Maintain complete confidentiality of all medical, financial, employee, computer and other sensitive materials in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Attend meetings as needed; act as a role model and maintain professional demeanor.
  • Develop and maintain clinical competency; demonstrate professional independence in nursing practice; consult internal experts when appropriate.
  • Maintain documentation of continuing education requirements; maintain CPR provider card; attend mandatory in-services as directed; participate in professional organizations.
  • Seek/training to learn new skills and maintain current competencies; maintain Personnel Development Records as per policy; maintain professional licensure in active status.
  • Practice within the guidelines set by the Florida Board of Nursing; meet customers’ expectations by listening, showing sensitivity and awareness of others.
  • Follow through to ensure established expectations are satisfied; communicate progress to customers; work effectively in groups/teams to ensure quality patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with directors/managers and interdisciplinary team members; maintain regular, predictable attendance; demonstrate dependability by reporting to work as scheduled.
  • Comply with UM, hospital and department policies and procedures; serve as mentor and role model; perform charge nurse duties as appropriate.
  • Inject local anesthesia under MD supervision; perform dressing changes as needed per order; cauterize bleeding vessels under MD supervision.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Clinic Nurse Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Essential Requirements)
  • Current/valid Florida nursing license.
  • Graduate from an accredited RN program; BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of one year RN experience, preferably in a hospital setting; recent graduates considered.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills; excellent English verbal and written skills required.
  • Moderate to advanced computer literacy; tact and diplomacy; ability to work with individuals at all levels of hospital and medical staff organization.
  • Multi-tasking and communication skills are necessary.
