Education and Experience
- Currently licensed and in good standing with the Florida Board of Nursing.
- BLS certification.
- ACLS certification.
- PALS certification.
- Knowledge and experience in Perioperative care of the surgical patient.
- Minimum one year ORTHOPEDICS and SPINE experience
- Knowledge of specialized equipment.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
- Minimum one year in pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative surgical patient care at outpatient surgical center.
- Demonstrates ability to assess patient status on admission to the preop area, the operating room and/or the PACU area and on a continuing basis.
- Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors.
- Apply the relevant scoring system/discharge criteria for patient transfer and score accurately as defined by organizational policy.
- Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
- Transfer care as needed.
- Provide hand-off report to other teammates that are accurate, concise and pertinent to the patient’s condition and response to care.
- Administers and document medications, solutions and treatments as prescribed.
- Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as needed.
- Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
- Participate in the performance appraisal process.
- Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.
- Comply with all facility policies and procedures when providing patient care.
- Actively participate in team meetings, trainings, and daily safety huddles.
- Maintains competencies to function in the RN role within specific area. (Ex. Preop, OR, and Pacu).
- Demonstrates behaviors and actions which support the mission, goals and operations of the Surgery Center that also contribute to continuous service improvement.
- Exhibits flexibility, adapting readily to changes in the work environment and/or work schedule.
- Maintains a positive attitude, even during periods of stress and challenge.
- Maintains positive attendance and communicate in advance any absences from work.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
