Rotating eight (8), ten (10) and twelve (12)-hour tours on rotating day, night, and evening shifts, to include weekdays, weekends, and holidays. On-call status is required for after-h care.
The Operating Room (OR) and Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized perioperative care within a dynamic, high-acuity environment. Working in an 11-room operating suite with a 14-bed PACU, the RN delivers patient-centered care across a broad spectrum of surgical specialties, including general, cardiothoracic, vascular, endovascular, plastic, ophthalmology, genitourinary, gynecology, neurosurgery, orthopedic, ENT, and robotic procedures. The OR RN is integral to the surgical team, serving as both a circulating nurse and scrub nurse, maintaining a safe, sterile environment, assisting surgeons, and ensuring seamless patient care throughout the surgical process.
In the PACU, the RN monitors post‑anesthesia patients, ensuring smooth recovery by addressing vital signs, pain, and post‑surgical symptoms, while educating and supporting patients and families through recovery protocols. This role requires advanced clinical skills, precision, and adaptability to uphold patient safety, surgical standards, and quality care in fast‑paced, critical situations.
- Measure and record patients' vital signs.
- Observe patients for signs of side effects of medication.
- Treat pain, nausea, and other post‑operative symptoms of anesthesia.
- Update charts, patient files, and medical records.
- Collaborate with the medical team on post‑operative patient care and facilitate timely specialized interventions.
- Provide comfort and reassurance to distressed post‑operative patients and concerned family members.
- Educate patients and their families on post‑surgery care, and answer questions.
- Perform other duties as required in the care of the post‑anesthesia surgical patient.
- PACU RNs must have BLS and ACLS certifications to perform duties within the Operating Room/PACU Unit.
- Personnel assigned by the Contractor to perform the services covered by this task order shall possess an unrestricted license to practice nursing in one of the States, Territories, or Commonwealths of the United States or the District of Columbia.
