Job Description Summary
The ARNP is responsible for assessing the physical and psychosocial status of patients by means of interview, health history, physical examination, and diagnostic studies at Jackson Memorial Hospital as part of the inpatient General and Transplant Hepatology consult service. Assist physicians in performing medical procedures, up to and including vital signs and nursing assessments, history and physical.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Perform consults and daily follow-up progress notes
- Recognize deviations from normal in the physical assessment. Work in collaboration with a physician to formulate treatment plans for health problems and follow-up
- Write prescriptions for medication, blood products based upon laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and post-discharge care in accordance with written practice protocols
- Initiate and facilitate clinical research protocols and coordinate patient care with research staff
- Obtain complete medical history independent of supervision by the physician
- Order appropriate laboratory tests according to practice guidelines
- Develop, implement and evaluate a plan of care that is appropriate for the patient and family
- Actively participate in quality assurance programs and peer review activities
- Provide assistance to physicians in the care and treatment of patients
- Provide medical support to staff, triage and implement care in a knowledgeable and skillful manner, as evidenced by team feedback and documentation in medical records
- Administer nursing assessments to include performing examinations, giving injections and assessing a patient’s health status
- Assess severity of patient’s condition, determining and directing patients to appropriate medical providers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ensuring compliance with local, state and federal health regulations
- Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
- Performs in a tactful and professional manner
- Master’s Degree in Advanced Registered Nursing
- Current licensure to practice as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Florida
- Must be credentialed to practice by Hospital Medical Board
- One year
