Position SummaryThe Director of Patient Services (DPS) is a key leadership role responsible for strategic oversight and operational management of hospice clinical services within the assigned region. This position ensures regulatory compliance, fosters a culture of excellence, and drives continuous improvement in patient care practices.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic direction and oversight for hospice clinical operations
- Lead, mentor, and evaluate interdisciplinary team members
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote quality care
- Monitor patient care activities to ensure compliance with standards and regulations
- Facilitate interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care plans
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and accreditation requirements
- Oversee quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives
- Analyze data and develop action plans to improve patient outcomes
- Collaborate on budget development and monitor clinical expenditures
- Foster community relationships and represent Medcare Hospice at events
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related healthcare field required;
Master’s degree preferred - Active RN license in the state of practice
- Minimum 5 years of leadership or management experience in healthcare
- Hospice or palliative care experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of Medicare and state-specific hospice regulations
- Proficiency in EHR and healthcare management software
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Strategic thinking and decision‑making ability
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities
- Integrity, transparency, and ethical leadership
- Collaborative mindset with strong team‑building skills
- Ability to travel within the assigned region
- Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Physical ability to meet job requirements, including occasional lifting and extended periods of standing or sitting
