A full-time Trauma Operating Room Registered Nurse opportunity is available at a 417-bed acute care hospital in Miami, Florida. This facility is a Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center verified by the American College of Surgeons and certified by the Florida Department of Health. It is also a Joint Commission-certified Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center and one of only five American Burn Association-verified Burn Centers in the state.

This role offers the opportunity to work in a highly specialized, fast-paced surgical environment serving both adult and pediatric trauma patients.

The Trauma OR Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive perioperative nursing care to trauma and acute surgical patients. This role requires strong clinical judgment, precision, and the ability to function effectively in a high-acuity operating room setting. The nurse coordinates closely with surgeons, anesthesiology teams, and operating room staff to ensure safe, efficient, and effective surgical care. Responsibilities include managing assigned patients throughout the surgical process and applying the nursing process to support optimal outcomes in trauma and emergency surgical cases.

Responsibilities
  • Provide perioperative nursing care for trauma and emergency surgical patients.
  • Coordinate with surgeons and OR teams to support trauma and acute surgical procedures.
  • Maintain patient safety throughout all phases of surgical care.
  • Prepare and manage surgical instrumentation and operating room environment.
  • Apply critical thinking and clinical judgment in high-acuity trauma situations.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all nursing care provided.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, trauma protocols, and surgical standards.
Qualifications
  • Active Florida Registered Nurse license or recognized compact RN license required.
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.
  • Minimum of two years of trauma operating room experience in an acute care setting required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or within 30 days of hire.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required or within 30 days of hire.
  • Strong perioperative, trauma, and critical care nursing skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure surgical environment.
