Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse works as a part of a team to provide quality care to designated patients. The RN works within the scope of practice within the Florida Board of Nursing Practice Act.

Performance Nursing Duties (100%)
  • Perform patient interview and obtain vital signs.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges and transferring patients within the facility.
  • Administer medication and therapies within the scope of safe nursing practice following nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Perform skilled nursing procedures within the scope of safe nursing practice following nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Arrange for tests and procedures.
  • Document appropriate information in a timely manner according to nursing and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily checks in each unit covered by the team to ensure all equipment to be used for the safety of patients and personnel.
  • Monitor availability of supplies and order replacement of necessary items to assure efficient operation.
  • Respond and assist team members and other personnel in any patient emergency situations.
  • Coordinate patient’s necessary preparations for certain procedures to others (charge nurses, unit nurses, nurse liaisons, ARNPs, technologists, and physicians).
  • Orient new staff.
  • Identify needs of new staff regulars, as well as supplemental staff.
  • Provide support and guidance as needed.
  • Create a comfortable environment for staff, physicians, and other health care personnel.
  • Be knowledgeable in and effective in carrying out the policies of the unit and hospital daily.
  • Support improvement performance activities and participate in both unit and hospital activities.
  • Report daily to Clinic Nurse Supervisor unit concerns/issues.
Professional Accountability
  • Consistently maintain complete confidentiality of all medical, financial, employee, computer and other sensitive materials, in compliance with HIPAA regulations and/or protecting privacy of others.
  • Attend meetings as needed.
  • Act as a role model and maintain professional demeanor at all times.
  • Develop and maintain clinical competency.
  • Demonstrate professional independence in the practice of nursing.
  • Consult internal experts when appropriate.
  • Maintain documentation of continuing education requirements.
  • Maintain CPR provider card.
  • Attend all mandatory in‑services as directed.
  • Participate in professional organizations.
  • Seek and accept training to learn new skills and maintain current competencies.
  • Maintain Personnel Development Record as per policy.
  • Maintain professional certifications/licensure in active status.
  • Practice within the guidelines set forth by the Florida Board of Nursing.
  • Meet customers’ expectations by listening and demonstrating sensitivity and awareness of others.
  • Follow through to ensure that established expectations are satisfied and keep customers informed of progress.
  • Work effectively and cooperatively in groups/teams to ensure quality patient care.
  • Communicate effectively with directors and/or managers and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain regular, predictable and dependable attendance.
  • Demonstrate dependability/reliability by promptly reporting to work when scheduled.
  • Comply with UM, hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Serve as mentor and role model.
  • Perform charge nurse duties as appropriate.
  • Inject local anesthesia under MD supervision.
  • Dressing changes as needed per order.
  • Cauterize bleeding vessels under MD supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Clinic Nurse Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current/valid Florida nursing license.
  • Graduate from an accredited RN school.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Minimum of one year RN experience, preferably in a hospital setting (recent licensed graduates considered).
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent English verbal/written skills.
  • Moderate to advanced computer literacy and skills.
  • Tact, diplomacy and ability to work with individuals at all levels of hospital and medical staff organization.
  • Multi‑tasking and communication skills.
