Specialty Care Outpatient Nurse

The Specialty Care Outpatient Nurse is responsible for providing competent, evidence-based specialty care to assigned patients and oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants, as appropriate to the clinic setting. He/She provides patient care, care coordination, health promotion, health education and coaching on wellness, disease prevention, and chronic care management. You may be expected to travel for this position to other sites or training facilities care, including OPCs and CBOCs as appropriate to patient care or service needs.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Works in multiple clinics and has specialized skills to include Allergy, Arthritis, Cardiology, Dermatology, Diabetes, Hepatology, Infectious Disease, Neurology, and more.
  • Integrates specialty care knowledge, skills, abilities, and judgment and is self-directed in goal setting for managing complex outpatient situations.
  • Administers medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines.
  • Assists in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and outcomes utilization.
  • Influences outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Responsible for providing competent, evidence-based specialty care to patients with oversight of licensed vocational nurses/nursing assistants as appropriate to the clinic setting.
