Nurse Supervisor/Assistant Nurse Manager-Acute Care Inpatient

The Nurse Supervisor/Assistant Nurse Manager-Acute Care Inpatient supports the Nurse Manager in overseeing operations of a nursing unit/patient care area. This role combines clinical proficiency with leadership responsibilities and is often considered part of the succession plan for future NM positions, providing opportunities to develop management skills and prepare for higher-level leadership. Additional specialties will be added to this announcement soon.

This position requires a variety of work schedules based on the type of position being filled, such as Med/Surg, Acute Care, or Spinal Cord: 1 day shift and night shift 8 hour tours and one for spinal cord day shift 8 hours. (

Note:

Work schedules are determined and approved by the supervisor. The incumbent may be required to work various shifts on a permanent or temporary basis based on facility/patient care needs). Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Supports the Nurse Manager (NM) as an Assistant Nurse Manager (Secondary) and Nurse on Duty (NOD) (Primary) with supervisory duties and responsibility and accountability for the 24/7 operation of their designated units.
  • Provide coverage for other ANMs and NODs as needed.
  • Responsible and accountable for the direction and supervision of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and provides input into the evaluation of individual staff performance.
  • Assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for managing and directing employees, staffing units, and allocating resources as necessary during weekends, holidays, and after-hours tours as assigned.
  • They function as a role model, educator, practitioner, and supervisor providing leadership to the team.
  • They enhance care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.
