OPS PARK RANGER -
Position Overview and Responsibilities:
This position requires the ability to operate lawn mowers, weed trimmers, drills, and basic hand tools. You will also be involved in visitor services, as in performing tours of the house and grounds.
Visitor Services -Engages with the public in a friendly and diplomatic fashion with the primary goal of ensuring positive visitor experiences and repeat visits. Receives visitors and collects fees in the park office/gift shop; conducts daily educational tours and programs; and assists with public and private special events.
Maintenance -Performs a variety of custodial duties including regular cleaning, maintenance and small repairs of buildings, facilities, vehicles and equipment. Responsible for routine groundskeeping tasks including mowing, trimming, weeding, leaf blowing and picking up trash.
Resource Management -Cleans, maintains, and protects historic buildings and a large collection of artifacts. Recognizes a variety of native and exotic species and removes invasive exotic species.
Administration -Uses computer and cash register. Balances cash receipts. Completes numerous forms, logs and reports. Answers phone, correspondence and email.
Protection -Follows safety guidelines and wears appropriate PPE. Implements the park’s Emergency Action Plan. Assists in all aspects of storm preparation and recovery. Understands and follows park rules and seeks compliance from visitors.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license
This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.
Pay:$15.00 per hour.
